Swift Current Minor Football wrapped up its 2017 season this past Saturday at Highland Park in the Atom and Pee Wee divisions, while the Bantam Steelers were in Weyburn.

In the Atom division, the Shaunavon TransCanada Pipelines Cowboys and Swift Plumbing & Heating Raiders went down to the wire, in what was described as a fantastic back and forth battle.

A Raiders touchdown on the last play of the game spelled a 26-22 win and championship for the home team.

The Pee Wee division title game between the Shaunavon Benchview Angus Cowboys and Pattison Agriculture Group Jaguars started in a style similar to the Atom final.

The hard-hitting first half produced a low score of just 12-7 in favour of Shaunavon midway through the title tilt.

However, the second half would prove kind to the Cowboys as they pulled away from the previously unbeaten Jaguars squad with a 30-7 championship-winning effort.

As for the Len's Plumbing and Heating/Smitty's Bantam Steelers, the team travelled to southeast Saskatchewan for a playoff matchup against the Weyburn Cardinals.

Looking to try and defend their league title from last season, the Steelers were unable to duplicate the magic, ultimately falling 43-0.

However, there's optimism among the Steelers squad for next year as they are set to return a major chunk of players from their 2017 roster.
