Sixty percent have voted in favour of of the City's commitment of $34,530,560 to build a Multiplex.

The referendum is done, and now Moose Jaw City Council can get to work on building a hockey and curling rink, along with an indoor soccer facility after months, even years of squabbling.

Moose Jaw Mayor Dale McBain joined Chris Rasmussen and Rob Carnie on Decision Moose Jaw Wednesday night on 800 CHAB and explained what the road ahead looks like.  "My first duty will be to call our MP and give him the good news and talk to him about the Canada Builds.  That's really one of our big items in the next little while.  The other is the design build that will come back to our city in April, and at the end of April we'll award the contract."

If that all falls into place, construction is expected to happen this spring or possibly early summer.

We saw 12,725 people cast their votes on Wednesday, which surpassed the 2006 Civic Election turn out by just under 3,000 ballots.

7626 people voted in favour of the project, and 5099 were against.  The voter turnout was on the high side when compared to previous elections with 49.5% of eligible voters taking part, which is 7% higher than in 2006.
