The future of Swift Current Minor Baseball looks bright after a second consecutive provincial crown for the Mosquito AA Indians.

"We do have turnover but we did have six kids come back from last year," said Coach Ken Wall. "They're just a great group of kids. They're good athletes, they love the sport, they're fun to coach and we just had a lot of fun this year."

The Mosquito Indians won every game they played at provincials. It wasn't easy as they needed to battle to beat Weyburn 9-8 in the gold medal game.

"Weyburn came out battling and we had to do the same, thing," said Wall. "We probably weren't at our best... but the kids battled hard. They found a way to win. We threw strikes at the end, out hit them... made the plays that we had to and came out on top."

Wall noted the players from their championship teams should help ensure there are strong Swift Current clubs at higher levels in the near future.

Midget provincials are this coming weekend.
