When it comes to shooting basketball free-throws, 10 year-old Mathew Shaver is automatic.

The St. Pats student recently won the Knights of Columbus Provincial Free Throw Challenge.   In the provincial final, Shaver was an astounding 23 of 25 from the line to claim the title.

Shaver says it was a long road to the provincial title.  He won his school "counsel" competition, then won the Swift Current city championship.  He went on to win districts which included Shaunavon, Moose Jaw, Regina and Assiniboia to advance to the provincial final.

Shaver admits he was nervous in the provincial final with his knees shaking but calms his nerves by imagining himself "in a good place".

He says he's been shooting for about two years now.
