After falling 10-0 to Quebec in their opener, Team Sask was able to round out Day 1 at the 17U Baseball Canada Cup with a win yesterday in Regina.

Swift Current product Ethan Murdoch drove in the eventual winning run in the fourth inning, as Team Sask edged BC 2-1.

Team Sask carried a 2-0 lead into the top of the 7th and final inning, where BC made even more of a game of it.

The west-coast club plated one run, and had the bases loaded threatening to force a home half of the seventh, but a strikeout ended the late threat.

Murdoch's game-winning RBI came when he hit into a fielder's choice, scoring the man on third. He added a single in the bottom of the sixth frame to finish 1-for-3.

Elsewhere, fellow Swift Current product Brody Alexandre went 0-for-4 with two strikeouts.

Team Sask (1-1) looks to jump above .500 today when they take on Ontario (1-1) at 11 a.m., before a rematch with Quebec at 8 p.m. Both games are at Optimist Park in Regina.
