Swift Current Bronco defenceman, Richard Nedomlel, has signed an Amateur Tryout Agreement with the Grand Rapids Griffins of the American Hockey League, the primary affiliate of the Detroit Red Wings.

In 72 games played this past season the 6’4”, 225-pound Prague, Czech Republic product has more than quadrupled his point totals from last season with 46 points (10-36-46) and recorded 83 penalty minutes.  He wrapped up the 2011/12 regular season ranking 16th amongst all defencemen in the WHL in scoring (46) and fifth in both power play assists (24) and power play points (32).

“His improvement this season is the reason that they’re bringing him up,” states General Manager and Head Coach, Mark Lamb. “This will be a really good learning experience for him and a chance for him to get involved in the organization and make a name for himself in the pro-ranks.”

Nedomlel was drafted 175th overall by the Detroit Red Wings in the 2011 NHL Entry Draft.

Nedomlel is still eligible to play two more seasons with the Broncos. His teammate Taylor Vause recently signed an ATO with Dallas' affiliate the Texas Stars, while Jon Groenheyde joined Allen of the Central Hockey League.
