The Swift Current Broncos lineup will be a bit different this weekend as they play two road games in Alberta.

Matthew Stanley and Owen Blocker will join the team after being reacquired from the Lethbridge Hurricanes earlier this week.

The two were part of last years Broncos team until January when they were dealt as part of the trade that landed Giorgio Estephan, Stuart Skinner and Tanner Nagel.

"We're excited about those additions, obviously character kids, they compete hard, they work hard, that's certainly something that has to be our trademark," Swift Current Broncos head coach and director of hockey operations Dean Brockman said Thursday night. "For us the timing was right with both guys and they're very familiar with the organization so that made it easy."

With the addition of Stanley the had six 20-year-old players, double the amount allowed, so the Broncos sent alternate capital Kaden Elder to the Calgary Hitmen yesterday morning in exchange for a third-round pick in the 2019 WHL Bantam Draft.

Brockman eluded to the abundance of overage players the team has on the roster as one of the multiple reasons the team made the deal with the Hitmen.

"We felt that it was a matter of trying to get the most of a return for one of those guys, unfortunately, it's Kaden," he said. "Calgary was pretty hot for him, so we decided to pull the trigger."

Elder spent parts of four seasons with Swift Current before the trade and Brockman thinks the deal will give him a chance to attain his goal.

"For him, it's a great opportunity," he said. "He's going to play in an NHL rink and he wants that NHL contract... For us, it's the future and that's why we have to make the trade, is certainly we need to recoup some assets."

The Broncos play at Rogers Place in Edmonton tonight and then travel to Red Deer tomorrow to faceoff against the Rebels.
