Looking to take the next step in their professional careers, players born between January 1, 1997, and September 15, 1999 will be hoping to hear their names called Friday night at the 2017 NHL Entry Draft.

There will be plenty of local interest in the draft with multiple Swift Current Broncos on the radar, as well as a Shaunavon talent.

Current Kelowna Rocket and Shaunavon's own Kole Line is expected to be drafted, while Bronco's Aleksi Heponiemi, Atryom Minulin and Tyler Steenbergen will all hope to be selected as well.

Broncos Captain Glenn Gawdin is also draft eligible having not signed with the St. Louis Blues this past year.

In the 2017 NHL Central Scouting Final Rankings (North America), Lind came in 23rd among WHL skaters.

Heponiemi was ranked 26th, Minulin was 58th and Steenbergen checked in at 70th.

The 2017 NHL Entry Draft will begin at 5:00pm, and continue Saturday at 8:00am.
