Their atomic number may be separated by 51 other elements on the periodic table, but Nickel and Gold have become synonymous with each other, at least in terms of wrestling in Swift Current.

Aleah Nickel, a wrestler at SCCHS captured yet another first-place finish this wrestling season, this time at the 2018 U19 National Wrestling Championships held in Edmonton this past weekend.

Nickel, who also won her first SHSAA Provincial Wrestling title earlier this year, went 3-0 in the 61 kg Girls' division in Alberta's capital.

The standout member of the Swift Current Titans Wrestling Club defeated Black Bears Wrestling Club's Brooke Sacobie in the opening match by fall.

Match two saw a 15-2 tech fall victory over Katherine Cullerton-Koval of the Junior Dinos' club in the semis to advance to the final.

An 8-3 decision spelled Gold for Nickel in a match against Jade Trolland of the Pacific Rim Wrestling Club.

Nickel now looks ahead to the Pan Am Championships in Guatemala next month, as well as World Championships in Croatia in July.
