The NHL Entry Draft continues today, after an exciting first round last night.

The Edmonton Oilers ended the suspense and selected Red Deer Rebels Forward Ryan Nugent-Hopkins first overall, the first WHLer since Chris Phillips in 1996 to be taken with the first pick.

Nugent-Hopkins was one of five WHL players selected in the first round, joining Saskatoon Blades defenseman Duncan Siemens (11th overall to Colorado), Portland Winterhwaks forward Sven Bartschi (13th overall to Calgary), Prince Albert Raiders forward Mark McNeill (18th overall to Chicago), and Portland defenseman Joseph Morrow (23rd overall to Pittsburgh).

Rounds two through seven go today in St. Paul, Minnesota.
