The Hockey Day in Canada schedule was announced yesterday for its stop in Swift Current this coming February.

The four-day event starts with the "Music of Hockey Day" at the Living Sky Events Centre on Wednesday, February 6, hosted by notable broadcaster Ron MacLean.

The following day at Riverdene Park will be the first of the three-day Sheldon Kennedy Youth Outdoor Classic. The night of February 7 is the Hockey Day in Canada Banquet.

Moving on into Friday, February 8, the schedule gets more jam-packed.

From 7:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m., Andrew Ference and the Stanley Cup will be a draw to the NHL Declaration of Principles Breakfast at the iPlex.

Then, the Alumni & Celebrity Classic runs from 7:30 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., before the Cabaret follows over at the Stockade.

Culminating in a lengthy February 9 schedule, the day starts with the Outdoor Festival back at Riverdene from 11 a.m. until 5 p.m.

The Diamond Energy Female Midget AAA Wildcats also will host the Melville Prairie Fire at 11:30 a.m. at the iPlex as part of the day's events.

The main event in Swift Current will be a WHL game at the iPlex between the Broncos and Saskatoon Blades, with Don Cherry and Ron MacLean hosting Coach's Corner live from the arena.

"It's honestly a dream come true. I'm a big fan of Ron and Don there," said forward Tanner Nagel, who was on hand at the event yesterday. "I'm very excited and I just can't wait, it's going to be awesome."

It's a rematch of sorts of the 1989 Memorial Cup. 30 years ago the Broncos hoisted the cup in a 4-3 OT win over the Blades.

Flash forward to 2019, after dealing with the atmosphere of a WHL Championship and Memorial Cup run, Nagel said he'll use those experiences to help keep the young Broncos squad relaxed with the nation watching at Hockey Day in Canada.

"Just don't get too high or too low - we're going to have some good games, we're going to have some bad games. After a good game we're going to be happy about it, but you gotta be prepared to play the next night."
