Idians Hendrikson

So far in the 2013 WMBL season only one team has handed the Swift Current Indians a loss at Mitchell Field.

They've now done it twice.

The Okotoks Dawgs up-ended the Tribe 7-3 last night.

"It's disappointing every time you come out of it losing," said Indians 3B Matt Henriksen. "I thought we had a few chances to put some runs together and make some adjustments against the starter (Chris Villalobos) but we just didn't make the adjustments in time."

It was only 2-1 Okotoks after 4 innings. The Dawgs pulled away with 2 in the 5th and 1 each in the 6th, 7th and 9th.

"They made plays when they had to," said Indians Coach Joe Carnahan. "They got big hits when they had to. We did have opportunities. We've been playing well. Our at bats actually did look better today. We hit a couple of balls well the other way. We're progressing and moving in the right direction."

Henriksen gave the Indians some life with a 2-run home run and also walked twice.

He's 13 for his last 25 after a slow start to his summer with the Indians.

"Hitting is all rhythm and timing," Henriksen said. "My season at school ended I think last game was April 30th so I had well over a month before I saw live pitching again. I think it took me 40 to 50 at bats to really get my rhythm and timing back at the plate."

"Now that I have it I think it's going to carry on for the rest of the season."

Cody Chartrand started and gave up 4 runs, 2 of them earned in a losing cause for Swift Current.

The Indians are now 11-5 on the season, while Okotoks is 11-3. Swift Current visits Medicine Hat on Saturday. We'll have that game for you on The Eagle 94.1 FM.
