Canadian Olympic Pole Vaulter Kelsie Hendry was in Swift Current yesterday to help promote the 2010 Olympic Torch relay celebrations, which will hit Swift Current on January 10th.

Hendry, who participated in the 2008 Beijing Summer Olympics, made a stop at O.M Irwin School and at the Swift Current Abilities Council to meet some Special Olympians.

When it comes to Torch Relay celebrations in January, Hendry says the community should get ready to celebrate the Olympic spirit.  "It's going to be so exciting, you have no idea.  We will have tents set up, and special things going on.  You can get your picture taken with the torch.  It's going to be a great time to be Canadian, and to be proud that we are hosting the Olympics this year."

Hendry, from Saskatoon, is hoping to compete in the 2012 Summer Games in London, England.  She's the current Canadian record holder in Women's Pole Vault, which is a relatively new sport on the Olympic scene.
