Eight games in eleven days seemed to catch up with the Swift Current Broncos as they fell 6-2 to the WHL leading Regina Pats.

Six different Pats scored as they struck in the first minute of the game and didn't look back on the way to their seventh win in eight games against Swift Current this season.

Lane Pederson and Ryley Lindgren scored for the Broncos in a losing cause.

The loss ended Swift Current's chances to catch Moose Jaw for second place in the East Division and home ice advantage in their first round series. The Broncos are five points behind the Warriors with only two games left to play in the regular season.

The Warriors and Broncos will meet in a first round series starting Friday, March 24th in Moose Jawth in Moose Jaw. The two clubs also play each other on Friday and Saturday this week in the final two games of the regular season.

Taz Burman made 35 saves on 41 Regina shots for the Broncos in his fifth straight start. Veteran Jordan Papirny has been out of the lineup sick.

Jordan Hollett stopped 24 Swift Current shots for the victory.

The Broncos seemed to be coming on strong early in the second period. Pederson's goal cut Regina's early lead to 3-1 and Swift Current was pushing hard before Glenn Gawdin got called for a cross checking penalty.

Lindgren and Aleksi Heponiemi broke in on the Regina goal shorthanded and Hollett stopped Lindgren's breakaway chance. The puck bounced right up to the Pats for a 4 on 2 that Nick Henry finished in what would hold up as the final turning point of the game.

Regina went 2 for 4 on the power play. Swift Current was held to 1 for 6 on their man advantage.

The Pats won a franchise record 50th game and had previously clinched top spot in the WHL regular season standings. They owned the season series with the Broncos despite four closely contested games at the Credit Union iPlex and one Swift Current win in Regina.

The Broncos have still won eight of their last ten games.

Pederson's goal was his sixth in his last six games. Gawdin had two assists.

Broncos defenceman Max Lajoie did not play in the third period. They were without Papirny and Colby Sissons due to illness. Kaden Elder and Kole Gable missed the game due to injury.

Gable is listed as day-to-day, but he hasn't played since February 28th.

Swift Current's next action is Friday at home against the Warriors for Fan Appreciation Night at the Credit Union iPlex. They'll wrap up the regular season in Moose Jaw on Saturday.
