Tanner Nagel roared from his own end down the left wing and ripped home the winner with 3:16 to go in the third period as the Swift Current Broncos came from behind to beat Regina 4-3 tonight.

"It felt really good," Nagel said. "It's always good to get the win and always good to chip in."

Veterans Nagel and Andrew Fyten led the way for Swift Current as Fyten scored twice and Nagel also added an assist in the victory.

"All the boys were going," Fyten said ."We just hung around there through the first and second. I thought we were skating with them. We put a lot of shots on net and we got rewarded."

It's always an extra special game for the Broncos against the Pats especially after dropping the first three games in the season series.

"There's for sure a rivalry every night we play them," Fyten noted. "It starts in exhibition every year. We don't like those guys over there and itw as nice to beat them tonight."

The first period had a good pace to it with both teams getting chances and playing physical.

Regina opened the scoring as the Broncos failed on an open clear and Scott Mahovlich knocked in his 5th of the season on a rebound.

The Pats struck again when a centering feed by Robbie Holmes took a wicked deflected and landed in Swift Current's crease for Brett Clayton to tap in.

"It was kind of a scrambly game for both sides," said Broncos assistant coach Brandin Cote. "We worked and we competed. We didn't get down when we could have mailed in it. We puck the puck on the net and got a few."

Fyten, who had missed two games on the weekend with the flu, took the game into his hands in the second period. He continued to drive the net with reckless abandon leading to a few key moments in the game. 5:46 into the 2nd period he ripped down the left wing side and drove to the net bowling into Max Paddock as the puck went under the Regina goaltender. After review the officials found it was a good goal.

Regina restored their two-goal lead less than three minutes later when Riley Krane deflected a Sam McGinley point shot and then put in his own rebound. It was McGinley's first point in his first WHL game.

Fyten again got his team going five minutes later as he flew down the right wing and using two teammates as decoys dragged the puck to the slot before beating Paddock again for his 8th of the season.

The Broncos didn't have much going early in the third period, but started to pick up the pace as it went on. Joona Kiviniemi then took a pass from Ben King and drove towards the net from his off wing before making a nice move and lifting the puck over Paddock's glove to tie the game. Kiviniemi now has seven goals without yet recording an assist in his rookie season.

Nagel's goal came after an extended sequence for the Broncos in their own zone. They then battled hard and blocked lots of shots in the final moments to secure the win. Joel Hofer made 36 saves including a few big ones late to pick up his fourth victory of the season.

Swift Current went 1/3 on their power play and held Regina to 0/4.

The home ice debut for newly acquired forward Carter Chorney was delayed as he suffered a twisted ankle and won't play until after the Christmas break.

The Broncos are now 5-8-1-1 on home ice compared to 1-14-0-0 on the road.

"It's always been historically a hard place to play," Cote said. "We've played well at home. We do have to find ways to win on the road. I don't know what it is exactly... to take that and maybe take some of the intensity that we have here on the road... there's lots of good takeaways."

Swift Current hosts Prince Albert on Friday before visiting the Raiders on Saturday in their last game before their break.
