Wildcats Camp 1

The schedule for the Diamond Energy Female Midget 'AAA' Wildcats continued over the weekend as the squad hosted their Spring Camp.

Coming off of a season which saw Swift Current come within two victories of a league championship, Head Coach Terry Pavely and his staff are now searching new talent to build with and help replace their graduating players.

Pavely says he was impressed with the overall talent level throughout the camp.

"We were really happy to see a lot of the kids that have played Midget 'AA' with either the Swift Current Titans or the West Central Wheat Kings. Many of them are ready to jump in and play 'AAA' Midget next year. i think they are not only ready, but ready to jump in, contribute and be solid players at the 'AAA' level," he said.

Pavely added they are also taking a close look at goaltending, needing to fill Jasey Book's spot on the roster.

"You don't replace a kid like Jasey Book and we are not going to place those types of expectations on any kid that plays goal for us. With that being said though, we need someone who can be solid night in, night out and I think we got a few of those. A number of the kids we had a Spring Camp were exceptional," he mentioned.

Book posted a 1.38 goals against average last season, while recording nine shut-outs.
