Tribe Silver Westerns

Now 2 days removed from their silver medal performance at the Western Canada Baseball Championship is St. Albert, Alberta, the Pee Wee 'AA' Indians have had a chance to reflect on their great run.

Despite falling 2-1 to Coquitlam in the gold medal game, Head Coach Derek Murdoch couldn't have been more pleased with his team.

"If you could put it in one word, it's proud. The guys were so unreal this weekend, the level of baseball was obviously, just another level from what we've seen and our guys responded so well. They carried themselves with class and represented our city and province very well. As tough as it is to get a silver when you get to that spot, the guys were so good in the final, it was a great game," he said.

Murdoch also mentioned that getting to Westerns is what the team had been playing for all season.

"We wanted to go to Westerns, that was our goal. Obviously, goals are meant to be sometimes reached, and sometimes you don't get there, but we were fortunate enough to reach our goal and then once we got there, to play as well as we did and to earn a silver medal was pretty special. It was tough giving that message out after the game when you're talking to 12 and 13 year old boys who are pretty upset, but at the same time still proud and happy," he added.

Murdoch credited the team's hard work and dedication for getting them to Westerns. With Westerns now in the rear view, that means another season of Pee Wee 'AA' Indians baseball has come to an end.
