For the fifth straight year, the Shaunavon Shadows were represented at the Saskatchewan Senior Bowl.

Competing with Team South in the 2017 edition was Shadow's grade 12 middle linebacker Isaac Peterson.

Peterson and Team South took down Team North in the 9-Man contest on Monday 19-15.

"It meant the world to me," Peterson said about winning the game. "The coaches had said they hadn't won for a few years so it was big to win for them."

Having played his final high school football game for Shaunavon on October 14, 2016, Peterson says he was just happy to get back on the football field.

"It was a great experience," he said. "You get along with all the guys, team bonding and just getting to hit people around have some fun."

Getting to spend the weekend in Saskatoon, there was also plenty for the grade 12 athlete to learn.

"I had to learn a new defence, and you practice form tackling, dropping into zones and who to cover," he said.

Looking into his future, Peterson says he has been encouraged to attend football try-outs, but has yet to make a decision on his final plan.

Also competing in the Senior Bowl on Monday was Maple Creek's Evan Chabot, who went on to be named the 2017 Team South MVP.
