broncos bus

The scene of the tragic crash in December of 1986

25 years after the bus crash that tragically killed four Swift Current Broncos, a new committee is working to build a monument at the spot of the crash on Highway 1.

"It's an organized effort to ensure that the lives lost and the lives affected is something that is remembered," said committee organizer Darwin Gooding. "A landmark on the side of the highway for anyone passing through the community to certainly be able to see and learn more about as well."

Gooding says they've also talked to the families of victims Trent Kresse, Scott Kruger, Chris Mantyka, and Brent Ruff to make sure they have no objections. They have also made initial contact with the province.

"We've had initial talks with the government of Saskatchewan," Gooding said. "They're open to discussing the idea."

The committee doesn't have an exact idea in mind for the monument.

Gooding is looking for more support on the committee and you can get in touch with him by e-mailing dgooding@goldenwestradio.com
