Matthew Christianson Raiders

The Kabos Bantam 'AA' Raiders split a pair of games over the weekend.

On the road in Melville Friday night, the Raiders scored their second straight win against the Millionaires, defeating Melville 7-4.

The Raiders jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the middle stages of the first period. Aaron Toews got Swift Current on the board before Mac Gross increased the lead to 2-0.

The Millionaires cut the lead in half in the first, as the two teams went into the locker room with the score 2-1 Raiders.

Once again, Aaron Toews found the back of the net to rebuild Swift Current two goal lead.

Matthew Christianson then stretched the lead to 4-1 on the power play.

However, from the 7:55 mark to the 2:20 mark of the second period, Melville fought their way back scoring three unanswered goals to tie the game.

With just a 1:34 left in the middle frame, Mitchell Braaten gave the Raiders the lead back.

Just like the first two periods, once again Aaron Toews was the first goal scorer in the period, as his hat-trick goal gave Swift Current a 6-4.

Ryland Hornung then put the game away for the Raiders with 5:38 left, making the score 7-4.

Swift Current then returned home on Sunday to host the Weyburn Wings.

Despite holding a 2-0 lead after one period, thanks to goals from Beau Larson and Mitchell Braaten, the Raiders were unable to hold on, as a pair of second period goals for Weyburn tied the game before the Wings took the lead with 12:23 remaining in the third.

The game finished 3-2.

Next up for the Raiders is a home game on Saturday when they host the Saskatoon Contacts.
