NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs

Two more second-round NHL playoff series got underway Saturday.

Matt Greene scored shorthanded late in the second period to lift the Los Angeles Kings past the St. Louis Blues 3-1. Jonathan Quick was strong in LA's net, making 28 saves as the Kings lead the Western Conference semi-final 1-0.

Chris Kreider scored the winner as the New York Rangers kicked off their second-round series with the Washington Capitals with a 3-1 win. Kreider helped Boston College win the NCAA hockey championship earlier this month.

This afternoon, Philadelphia and New Jersey get their Eastern Conference semi-final underway (1:00pm, CBC). Shaunavon's Brayden Coburn and the Flyers are coming off a first-round upset over Pittsburgh, while the Devils bounced third-seeded Florida in a seven-game marathon. The Phoenix Coyotes look to build on their first second-round win since moving to the desert when they host Nashville for game two tonight (6:00pm, TSN).
