The aftermath of two several fights during the Rebels/Broncos game on Monday

Marc McCoy scored his hat trick goal with 29 seconds to go in overtime to give Red Deer a 5-4 win over the Broncos in Western Hockey League pre-season action Monday.

It was Swit Current's second and final game at the Edmonton Oil Kings invitational. The Broncos topped Edmonton 4-2 on Sunday.

Swift Current and Red Deer were tied 1-1 after the second period before exploding for 6 combined goals in the third. Down 3-1 with eight minutes to play, Broncos forward Ryan Bloom scored back to back goals in less than two minutes. The sophomore tapped in a nice feed from Ryon Moser for his first and deflected shoulder high Jordan Evans shot for his second.

"(It was) a key point in the game for us so that was the most important thing," Bloom said. "It was a pretty lucky tip."

Bloom then came within a couple of inches of scoring a natural hat trick, but import goaltender Patrik Bartosak shut the door for the Rebels.

McCoy's second of the game put Red Deer back ahead with 47 seconds remaining. The Broncos immediately fired back with Taylor Vause tapping home a Colby Cave pass 25 seconds later to send the game to overtime.

Trevor Cameron opened the scoring for Swift Current at 9:32 of the second period. Zac Mackay and Tanner Muth came together on a passing play to spring Cameron for his first of the pre-sesaon.

The Broncos went 1 for 7 on the power play while Red Deer went 4 for 8. It was a return to earth for the Broncos penalty kill after they killed off all 11 Edmonton power play opportunities on Sunday.

"We gotta work on a few things," Bloom said. "Hopefully by the start of the season we will be good to go."

Steven Myland allowed 5 goals on 24 shots to take the loss in goal. Bartosak stopped 30 of 34 Broncos shots.

Swift Current hosts Saskatoon on Friday.
