A early deficit was too much to recover from the Midget AAA Indians in Saskatchewan Premier Baseball League action last night.

The Regina Athletics scored twice in each of the first two innings and took a 5-0 lead after the top of the third.

They held on for a 5-1 victory over Swift Current.

The Midget Indians had a hard time solving Regina as three different pitchers held them hitless with a combined 13 strike outs.

Jayden Roosen walked and scored Swift Current's only run.

They host the Saskatoon Cubs for a double header starting at 1pm on Sunday at Mitchell Field.

The Midget AA team opens their season on Saturday.
