There have been a lot of emotions for Rob Bagg over the past five days, but one that nobody was probably expecting was for him to be embarrassed.

The Saskatchewan Roughriders receiver told reporters on Wednesday that he was embarrassed by his reaction to his knee buckling during the second quarter of last Saturday's game against Montreal.

“I was definitely expecting the worst at that point, just because of what's happened in the past, and it's probably a little bit embarrassing about how I overreacted now, but it was just one of those sensitive things where I knew what's happened in the past,” he said during his first meeting with the media since the injury happened.

While it looked like the worst last Saturday,  we all know now that Bagg suffered a knee sprained that won't end his season, or career, like another torn ACL probably would have.

“I'm fortunate that all my ligaments are good,” he said.  “From what I'm being told is my knee is no different now than what it was Friday before the game.  I just had a little tweak and obviously it didn't feel good, so we're taking care of that.”

Bagg, who is use to dealing with injuries by now, is taking a positive look at this one and hopes to be back as soon as possible.

“I'm just taking the doctors and trainers advice day-by-day, but I feel good right now, so I feel like if things continue to progress it shouldn't be long, hopefully next week,” he said.

When Bagg went down with the injury, support from around Rider Nation and the entire CFL started to pour in for the receiver.  He said he can't say enough about that support and what it meant to him.

“It's been very humble and very overwhelming to be honest,” he said.  “I've always appreciated the fans and support and all the friends I've had around the league, but it was really over the top how nice everyone was being.”

Now for Bagg, the focus shifts to getting back on the field and he hopes to start pushing it more by the weekend with a goal of coming back next week, which would be music to the team and Rider fans alike.

The Riders will be without Bagg on Saturday in Edmonton.  They kick-off against the Eskimos at 2:00pm.
