It was one of the worst-kept secrets of this year's CFL Canadian Draft, but the Saskatchewan Roughriders made it official, selecting University of Saskatchewan offensive lineman Ben Heenan first overall as the draft got underway this afternoon.

The team announced their intention to select Heenan earlier this morning.

The 6' 4", 310-pound Grand Coulee native was a resounding favourite to go first overall.

The Green and White also chose linebacker Samuel Hurl of the Calgary Dinos 12th overall, linebacker Kevin Regimbald-Gagne of Sherbrooke 35th overall, and wide receiver Ismael Bamba, also of Sherbrooke, with their last pick in the sixth round, 39th overall.
