The WHL has suspsended Swift Current Broncos forward Carter Rigby for two games.

The veteran power forward will sit out against Red Deer tonight and Edmonton tomorrow after his hit injured Regina Pats defenceman Chase Harrison on Sunday.

This is Rigby's second suspension since joining the Broncos as he sat out a game after undefined actions during the outbreak of fights between the Broncos and Rebels the last time the two teams faced off.

Rigby has been part of Swift Current's top line with Colby Cave and Jake DeBrusk which had been on a tear as of late. He had four points on Saturday in a win over the Pats.

His suspension makes a tough trip even tougher for the Broncos as they are without defencemen Dillon Heatherington and Jordan Harris as well. Heatherington is at World Juniors and Harris is facing a potentially long term injury.

"It's a real tough swing here," said Broncos associate coach Josh Dixon. "Red Deer is playing well, Edmonton is always a tough building to win in and then we come back to Medicine Hat. Very important that we get a full effort from everybody. We don't have to complicate things. We have to play simple and smart."

You can hear the game in Red Deer on The Eagle 94.1 FM with our pre-game show starting at 7:30pm.
