A couple of special guests were in attendance at Saturday night's Bronco game at the Credit Union iPlex.

Saskatchewan Roughrider's Defensive Lineman Tearrius George and Guard Chris Best both took in the hockey game, while signing many of autographs for Broncos and Roughrider fans.

The players visit to Swift Current comes at a time where the green and white are undergoing major change, both in the front office and on the roster.

During their dismal 3-15 season last year, Saskatchewan fired Head Coach Corey Chamblin and General Manager Brendan Taman, which got the ball rolling for all of the changes set to take place.

Early in December the team announced the hiring of former Edmonton Eskimos' Head Coach Chris Jones to become Saskatchewan's Head Coach, General Manager and Vice-President of Football Operations.

The Riders were then able to pry away highly respected Calgary Assistant General Manager John Murphy to join the Green and White as their Assistant Vice-President and Director of Player Personnel, all while also retaining interim General Manager Jeremy O'Day as Assistant Vice President of Football Operations and Administration.

Speaking at the Bronco's game George says he is looking forward to the new direction being taken by the front office.

"I see the team going great places. He (Jones) is a guy that is really particular about football. Everywhere he has been he has had a winning record so I expect nothing less then to win," he said.

Best also shared a very similar opinion of the new management, which played a key role in him re-signing with the Riders just hours before free agency began on February 9th.

"It is a privilege to come back. I have played my whole career here and I really wanted to have a chance to keep playing here and have a chance to play for a coach like Chris Jones. His record speaks for itself, I have played against his defenses and they are buzz-saws out there. Also John Murphy from Calgary, he has a lot of history in getting a lot of good talent so I am excited that they wanted me around and gave me a chance to keep playing for them," he said.

For Saskatchewan, getting Best under contract was just one of a flurry of moves to come over the next few days as free agency began along with the Riders' roster overhaul.

The Riders inked multiple players from Edmonton that played and won a Grey Cup with Jones last season, including National Receiver Shamawd Chambers, International Defensive Back Otha Foster, National Offensive Lineman Andrew Jones and International Running Back Kendial Lawrence.

Saskatchewan also managed to land arguably the most coveted Canadian free agent, when they signed REDBLACKS Defensive End Justin Capicciotti to team up with previously signed Shawn Lemon.

Both Capicciotti and Lemon will be lining up with George on the Defensive Line, something the 6'4, North Carolina native is looking forward to.

"I see a lot of young energetic guys coming in that are looking to make a name for themselves and have already began that process of making a name for themselves so I am expecting big things from them coming in."

Despite the large amount of new faces in the coaching staff, front office and on the roster, both George and Best still believe they can right the ship as quickly as this season.

"For me, honestly, call me optimistic but I think we can turn it around this year. These are guys that have proven track records doing what they do, as far as scouting talent and finding talent. With just being in Riderville and having these guys experience I think it will be a good year," George mentioned.

"I'd say this year. You look at 2011 and I thought we were worse in 2011 then we were last year, also the league is a little bit better, but following that season we were just one play away from going to the Western Final in 2012 so there is a good chance for us to turn this around right away," Best said.

As the 2016 season continues to draw closer, change will not only be seen throughout the football club, but it will also be experienced by fans attending Mosaic Stadium at Taylor Field which will be hosting it's final season of Roughriders football before the team moves to the new Mosaic Stadium for the 2017 season.

Despite being excited about a new facility next year, Best says the focus still remains on this year and Mosaic's Farewell Season.

"We've seen the pictures and it looks amazing, but that is next year and we need to worry about this season first."

The Riders pre-season will begin June 11th, with their first regular season game scheduled for June 30th when they host the Toronto Argonauts.
