Joel Rumpel
University of Wisconsin goaltender and Swift Current native Joel Rumpel has been named the Red Baron WCHA Rookie of the Week.
Rumpel made 38 saves last Saturday to backstop the Badgers to a 5-4 victory over the defending conference champion North Dakota Sioux.
The 38 save performance was only Rumpel's third appearance for the University of Wisconsin.
He is a former Home Hardware Midget AAA Legionnaire and played last season with Penticton in the BCHL.
Rumpel is the first Badger men's hockey player honored by the WCHA this season.
