The Saskatchewan Rush continued their home dominance on Friday, but dropped a key game on the road on Saturday to finish their two-game weekend with a split.

Saskatchewan improved to 6-0 at home with a 13-10 win over the Calgary Roughnecks on Friday night at SaskTel Centre, but they dropped a 14-11 game to the Colorado Mammoth in Denver on Saturday.

The Rush remain in first place in the National Lacrosse League’s West Division with an 8-4 record, which has them one game ahead of the Mammoth, who sit at 8-6.

Mark Matthews posted two goals and seven points to lead the Rush to Friday’s win. Captain Chris Corbeil had two goals and four points, while Robert Church and Dan Taylor also found the back of the net twice in the win.

Goalie Aaron Bold turned away 43 shots to help the lead the Rush past the Roughnecks.

The Rush started quick to take an 8-3 lead over Calgary heading into halftime, but a five-goal third frame allowed the Roughnecks to get back into the game. The Rush scored just enough to hold onto the win.

On Saturday, a slow second quarter and a quiet fourth quarter ended up costing the Rush.

The Mammoth scored seven times in the second quarter to take an 8-3 lead at halftime, but the Rush came out firing in the third quarter to battle the game back even at 10-10 heading into the fourth, but the offence went cold at the Mammoth pulled out the win.

Matthews finished with two goals and six points in the loss, while Church had three goals and four points, and Matthew Dinsdale and Ben McIntosh picked up two goals and four points each.

Jeremy Noble burned the Rush for four goals and seven points, while former Rush forward Zack Greer finished with three goals and six points.

The Rush return the court on Saturday when they travel to Buffalo to take on the Bandits.
