Warriors-Apr7-Tigers13

The Moose Jaw Warriors broke through the Tyler Bunz-wall and then some on Saturday night at Mosaic Place, scoring six unanswered goals to beat the Medicine Hat Tigers 6-1 in Game 2 of the second round WHL playoff series.

A pair of veterans led the charge for the Warriors as captain Kendall McFaull dished out four assists with two of them coming on two goals from Quinton Howden in the second period.

Medicine Hat -- despite being down leading scorer Emerson Etem, who was suspended for his knee-on-knee hit that injured Torrin White in Friday’s Game 1, 2-1, win -- did open the scoring as Hunter Shinkaruk snapped a short handed goal past Luke Siemens with just 1:58 to go in the first period.

The score stayed that way until midway through the second period when Howden went to work. The Florida Panthers draft pick scored two goals 45 seconds apart to quickly steal the lead away from Shaunavon's Kale Kessy and the Tigers.

Moose Jaw broke the game wide open early in the final frame when Eric Arnold got his fifth of the post-season just thirteen-seconds into the period.  Five minutes later, Kenton Miller blasted a shot past Bunz for the 4-1 lead.  Justin Kirsch scored the Warriors first power play goal of the series with 5:53 to go and then Cam Braes locked the game up with just 2:54 to go for the 6-1 win.

Siemens had another light night in the Warriors goal, making 14 saves, but once again rose to the occasion when he had to.  Bunz on the other hand was busy again facing 40 shots from the tribe.

Moose Jaw was 1-for-4 on the power play and 1-for-1 on the penalty kill.

Games 3 and 4 will be Tuesday and Wednesday night in Medicine Hat.  Prairie Mobile Warriors Hockey will be back on the air Tuesday on Country 100 with the pre-game show at 6:40pm.
