Scott Schiffner rides in the championship round of Saturday's PBR event in Swift Current

Scott Schiffner is a two-time champion of the Redhead Equipment Cody Snyder Invitational PBR, which was held in front of a sold-out crowd at the Credit Union iplex in Swift Current on Saturday night.

The Strathmore, Alberta, cowboy won the event with an 87 score in the first round, which held up after he and the other short round riders were bucked off.

"In the short round, there were a good set of bulls, and we darn sure should have rode some," he said. "It's one of those things that I can't even say is bittersweet, it just makes a guy mad. No matter if you win or lose, my job is to stay on bucking bulls and I didn't do that. It's good to win, but it's frustrating... I hate winning like that."

Schiffner won the inaugural event in 2011 and has taken part in all five PBR events held here. He says it's always exciting to come back to Swift Current.

"It's exciting to come to places like this," he added. "It's a small building and really what we call intimate, so the crowd is on top of you and you can feel it... The fan base here is nice to see, I see some familiar faces here, and that's a thing I take pride in. Us as bull riders must being doing something right, or they like what we're doing here."

Schiffner, who earned $5506 for the win, edged out Tim Lipsett for the title by a single point. Cawl Brathwaite was third with an 83, while Zane Lambert, another two-time Swift Current PBR champion, was fourth with an 81.
