Hockey fans are abuzz after Edmonton Oilers goalie Ben Scrivens turned in a 59-save masterpiece in a 3-0 shutout win over the San Jose Sharks Wednesday night at Rexall Place.

"Hats off to the goaltender, he was tremendous," Sharks coach and former Swift Current Broncos bench boss Todd McLellan said after the game. "He was probably first, second and third star, if now, he deserves it... In all my years in the league, I don't think I've seen that, so give credit where credit's due."

Sharks forward and Aneroid product Patrick Marleau had five shots on net, and said they had to try and stick with their gameplan and hope Scrivens would break.

"If you run into a hot goalie, it's tough,," he said. "But I think it's a good lesson for us that there are certain things you have do in order to overcome that and stick with it."

The Sharks visit Calgary tonight (8:00pm, Sportsnet West). Also in the NHL tonight, Stewart Valley's Travis Moen and the Montreal Canadiens travel to Boston, Maple Creek's Zack Smith and the Ottawa Senators visit Tampa Bay, and the Toronto Maple Leafs welcome Florida.
