The basketball season has come to a close for southwest teams over the SHSAA regional weekend.

Five teams from the southwest competed in the 1A to 4A categories, where the top teams advanced to HOOPLA later this month in Prince Albert.

The Swift Current Ardens travelled to Weyburn to take part in a seven-team regional. The Ardens lost their first game to Notre Dame 73-62. On the consultation side, the Ardens lost to Yorkon Regional 57-48.

The Swift Current Colts had a little more success than their high school counterparts when they travelled to Warman for an eight-team rural regional. The Colts started off on the right foot as they beat Warman 64-52. Swift Current then lost a close one 74-64 to Yorkton Regional, which eliminated them from the tournament.

In 1A girls action, the Leader Saints travelled to Saint Brieux. Leader dropped their opening game to Langham 60-44. On the consolation side, they played LCBI and lost 57-48.

The Shaunavon Silhouettes attended the 2A girls regionals at Regina Harvest City. The Silhouettes lost their opening game 59-49 to St. Walburg. The Silhouettes recouped on the consolation side and won a thriller 62-59 against Norquay.

The Maple Creek Rebels were also in Regina as they competed in 3A girls regional at Regina Christian. The Rebels lost a close opening game to Nipawin 57-53. On the consolation side, they lost to Yorkton Sacred Heart 64-41.
