The Swift Current Comp High School Sr. Ardens Basketball team has started its season in winning fashion.

The Ardens have won two of their first three tournaments, running the table at both their home tournament two weeks ago and the Estevan tournament last weekend.

Head Coach Derek Targerson believes some of the success stems from chemistry: "Last year when I took over the coaching duties, I had four returning girls and we had a new learning curve with the new coach and the new system, and so we were just building last year. This year, I have seven returning girls, so we have been able to take what we've learned last year and put it into this year, and we've been able to be a little more successful."

Targerson adds he's confident about this year: "We've played pretty well so far. It's early in the year, but I'm very pleased with the way the girls have been playing and performing, and if we can keep working hard and getting better every weekend, then I think we will do fairly well."

After the Christmas Break the Ardens head to tournaments in Moose Jaw, Lethbridge, Notre Dame and host another home tournament.
