What a start to the 2019 season for the Swift Current Comp Senior Ardens volleyball team.

The Senior Ardens placed third out of 32 teams at a University of Regina-hosted tournament over the weekend.

They went 3-and-0 in the round robin with wins over Esterhazy (25-20, 25-16), Lumsden (25-18, 25-16), and Regina's Thom Collegiate (25-10, 25-9).

The Senior Ardens then defeated Yorkton in the crossover (25-12, 25-20), and Estevan in the quarter-final (25-20, 25-22).

The lone loss of the tournament came in the semis, when Swift Current fell to the eventual gold medal-winners from Balgonie Greenall (13-25, 20-25).

It was a very close third-place game, which proved to be the most back-and-forth of the Ardens' run by far.

Swift Current edged Saskatoon BJM in a three-set thriller (25-23, 22-25, 16-14) for bronze.
