For the first time since 2002, the Shaunavon Shadows will host a high school provincial football game today.

The Shadows will play host to Tisdale in the SHSAA 2A 9-Man Football Provincial Quarter-Finals, with a berth to next week's semi-final on the line.

Shadows Head Coach Garret Glasrud says they'll have their hands full today against a tough Tisdale team.

"We're not going into this game thinking it is going to be a runaway or anything like that. We are definitely going to come into this game humble and knowing we have to work hard and play our game in order to take care of business. Tisdale is going to give us a really good fight," he said.

Heading into today's provincial game, Shaunavon has had a very strong season, going undefeated through conference play.

The Shadows undefeated record played a major role in bringing the quarter-final game to Shaunavon, which Glasrud thinks could play a big part in the game.

"The main things is the kids are in a familiar place. They get to sleep in their beds the night before the game and they get good food, it helps them be mentally prepared and mentally focused. They know the field, so there are no issues like that, and I think it creates a little bit of a second confidence," he said.

Kick-off is scheduled for 1:00pm from Shaunavon.
