Connor Dewar scored twice into an empty-net as the Everett Silvertips survived their final home game of the season to force Game 6 in the WHL Championship Series.

Riley Sutter had a goal and two assists in the win for Everett.

The Silvertips came out strong with an aggressive forecheck and desperation in securing a 6-3 win over Swift Current and keeping the series going. The Broncos now lead 3-2 with Game 6 set for Sunday at the Innovation Credit Union iPlex.

Everett struck first with goals by Wyatte Wylie and Matt Fonteyne in the first period to pump up the 6600 people in Angel of the Winds Arena. Broncos captain Glenn Gawdin cut that lead in half with his 13th of the playoffs on a beautiful tic-tac-toe Swift Current passing play before the end of the period.

Gawdin then tied the game in the second frame as he got open off a face-off and pass by Colby Sissons to strike for his 14th of the playoffs.

Everett pulled ahead again early in the third as Swift Current forward Giorgio Estephan hit the most at one end of the ice before not long after Sean Richards ripped home a nice shot for a 3-2 Silvertips lead. A Broncos turnover then laded on Sutter's stick and Everett was in firm control up 4-2.

Swift Current still made it interesting when Noah King flew in from the point to score his first career WHL goal at a big time and cut that lead to one. That's as close as the Broncos would get as Dewar quickly filled Swift Current's empty net to wrap up the game.

Despite the loss the Broncos had a successful trip taking two out of three games in Everett and now have a chance to win the Ed Chynoweth Cup on home ice this Sunday. Game 7 if necessary would also be in Swift Current on Monday.
