For the second straight night the Swift Current 57's were the beneficiaries of a strong pitching performance.

57's starting pitcher James Smith delivered eight strong innings as Swift Current doubled-up the Fort McMurray Giants 4-2, defeating the team from northern-Alberta for the second time in as many days.

Smith gave up just two runs on three hits, all coming in the 2nd inning, and only allowed two men to reach base outside of that half-inning.

It was the second straight start in which the Brighton, Colorado native allowed just two runs or less, and the fifth time overall this season.

In the game, however, Swift Current did initially fall behind.

The game was still scoreless when the Giants put their two runs on the board.

The score remained that way until the top of the 7th, when Blake Adams was able to break through for Swift Current.

With nobody out and the bases loaded, Adams cashed in a two-RBI single tying the game 2-2.

Kyle MacDonald followed the at-bat with a sacrifice fly to give the 57's their first lead of the night.

Heading to the final inning, Meadow Lake's own Brett Esau provided some insurance for Swift Current smashing his 6th home run of the season, extending the lead to 4-2.

Keil Krumwiede took the mound in the bottom of the 9th looking to lock down the save, and did exactly that.

Krumwiede promptly struck-out the side on thirteen pitches to end the game.

For Swift Current, they improved to 21-11 on the season and remained tied with Regina for top spot in the East Division, following the Red Sox 12-2 win over Yorkton.

The 57's are now off to Edmonton for games on Thursday and Friday against the Prospects before returning home to host Moose Jaw on Saturday.
