Swift Current hosts Soccerfest this weekend.

Players ranging from the ages of 8 to 15 will be hitting the pitches at the Comp and O.M. Irwin School.

"We've got teams coming in from Kindersley, Weyburn, Regina, Moose Jaw," said Swift Current Soccer Association board member Steve Kritzer. "We're basically the only small centre tournament in the province so we bring in a lot of teams.

The large number of teams means there will be over 300 soccer players around the city over the weekend.

"Swift Current soccer has a really good reputation for building some strong teams," said Kritzer. "Sadly we're not very hospitable hosts. We expect a lot of our teams will do really well.

Saturday evening will see the TJ's Pizza Shootout which is a special event that pits all players against each each other with a chance to win pizza.

Games begin tomorrow morning at 8:00am with the tournament wrapping up late in the afternoon on Sunday.
