It was a two-win weekend for the Swift Current U14 Sonic girls softball team.

Continuing to prepare for the Saskatchewan Softball U14 provincial C championships in mid-July, the Sonic travelled to Weyburn over the weekend and earned a sweep.

In their first contest, Paris Appel and Kadence Pavely combined for the win on the mound, while first baseman Brooklyn Zakulzny led the way offensively in a 10-6 victory.

The second meeting between the two teams was shortened due to rain.

Despite the elements, the Sonic still came away with a 1-8 win.

Hillary Lacelle picked up the win on the mound, and Appel hit a home-run.

Next up for the Sonic, they will play host to Weyburn for two games on July 2.

The Saskatchewan Softball U14 provincial C championships will take place in Biggar from July 14-16.
