The Swift Current Comprehensive High School and the entire South West had an impressive showing at the 2015 SHSAA Track and Field Provincial Championships in Yorkton over the weekend.

SCCHS athletes picked up a total of 5 gold medals, along with 1 silver medal and a pair of 4th place finishes, while 4 South West athletes tallied 1 silver medal, 2 bronze medals, and a 4th place finish.

Swift Current's Alex Gray captured 2 gold medals, winning both the midget girls 1500 meter race, as well as the 3000 meter race.

Marcus Kouri also earned 2 gold medals. Kouri won the senior boys long jump, along with the senior boys triple jump. Kouri 1st place long jump of 7.13 meters also set a new provincial record, breaking the old record of 7.05 meters.

Rounding out the gold medal victories for Swift Current, was Greg Rousseaux, who won the open boys' quad event, which included long jump, shot put, 100 meter and 800 meter.

Swift Current's Logan Fritzke found a silver lining in his weekend. Logan placed 2nd in midget boys discus.

Frontier's Sarah Moule had a silver lining as well, finishing 2nd in the junior girls javelin.

Bringing home bronze was Shaunavon's Nixen Voll and Gull Lake's Josh Anderson. Voll placed 3rd in the midget boys long jump, while Anderson finished 3rd in the junior boys 800 meter.

Two Comp athletes just missed the podium. Gabrielle Gray finished 4th in the open girls' quad, and Branden Lemay finished 4th in midget boys triple jump.

Cabri's Kyra Braaten also finished just shy of a medal, placing 4th in junior girls long jump.
