A pair of southwest Saskatchewan senior basketball teams fell short of their respective podiums at HOOPLA 2019, SHSAA's provincial basketball tournament, in Saskatoon over the weekend.

The Swift Current Comp Senior Ardens were up against some stiff competition in the 5A Girls bracket.

In their quarter-final opener, the Ardens lost 79-31 to the eventual Provincial champions from Regina LeBoldus.

Vanessa Clothier had a team-high 13 points, with Mackenzie McIntyre chipping in seven as well.

Then, in the Consolation semis, Swift Current fell 69-61 to Prince Albert Carlton to end their tournament run.

This time it was McIntyre who had the team lead, pouring in 17 against the Crusaders, who bested Swift Current in the Regional final one week prior. Kyla Morante added 11 for the Senior Ardens in the loss.

Meanwhile over in 1A Boys action, Coronach placed fourth in the bracket.

The Coronach Colts lost 92-53 to the eventual Provincial champions from Lake Lenore.

Then, in the bronze medal game, Coronach lost 90-68 to Middle Lake.
