Results are now official, and the southwest showed out at the Wood Mountain stop on the CCA rodeo circuit this past weekend.
Saddle Bronc:
Maple Creek's Adam Gilchrist claimed the top spot with a score of 77, raking in $939.60 in the process.
Not far behind in a tie for second place was Piapot's Casey Bertram with a score of 75. He took home $696.60.
Bareback:
Maple Creek's Brady Bertram finished in a tie for third place in Bareback with a score of 72, totalling $445.50 for his effort.
Bull Riding:
The pot was split evenly between 11 bull riders for the weekend. Among those taking home a shade over $282 were:
- Chanse Switzer (Hazenmore)
- TJ Loeppky (Central Butte)
- Logan Peterson (Glentworth)
- Cole Hartman (Lancer)
- Chad Hartman (Lancer)
Tie Down Roping:
Shawn Williamson raked in over a grand in winnings for a second place finish. A time of 8.8 seconds gifted the Mankota product $1,080.
Ladies Barrel Racing:
It was a big pay-day for Shaunavon's Haley Glasrud. Her time of 17.73 seconds gave a 0.09 second-margin of victory, taking home $2,421.90.
Team Roping:
Wood Mountain's Jesse Popescul took home his share of $3,250.80 for a T-1 finish in team roping. The Header was paired with Okotoks, Alberta heeler Wyatt Eirikson, finishing with a 5.4-second mark to tie at the top.
Meanwhile Kade Peake of Maple Creek finished in third place alongside heeler Ory Brown from Kenton, Manitoba. The duo finished with a time of 6.1 seconds, taking home a $2,570.40 total.
Junior Girls Barrel Racing:
The southwest took two of the top three spots in the junior event, as Cadillac-product Brooke Lang cruised to a win with a 17.47 second time. The win came with a $354.96 prize.
In third was Maple Creek's Logan Resch. She beat out fellow Maple Creek rider Janae Wilson by 0.02 seconds for the third-place finish. Resch took home $232.56.
Novice Bareback:
It was an all-southwest finish in Novice Bareback, as the lone two riders to register a score were Blake Link (Maple Creek) and Liam Marshall (Coronach).
Link took the win with a score of 60, earning him a total of $266.
Meanwhile Marshall earned a mark of 59, collecting $210 in the process.
Novice Bull Riding:
Val Marie's Colt Kornfeld grabbed top spot with a score of 78. He earned $400 for the effort.
In third was Kindcaid's Jud Colliness, who posted a score of 72. The mark gifted him an even $200.
Ladies Breakaway Roping:
Wood Mountain' Carla Popescul took home the top spot with a 3.9-second time. The win earned her a grand total of $421.20.
In third was southwest rider Brittny Gorwick. She finished with a time of 6.3 seconds, earning $291.60.
