Three SWAC Senior Girls volleyball teams clinched SHSAA Conference titles over the weekend.


Vanguard won their 1A West Conference 1 hosted in Consul.

They downed Mankota in two sets to open play, following that up with a three-set win over Ecole Mathieu.

Vanguard then swept both Consul and Glentworth in two-straight to clinch the Conference title.

They now look to this weekend, where they host the 1A Girls West Regional.

Vanguard welcomes Coronach, Chief Paskwa, Central Butte, Ecole Mathieu, Gladmar, and Central Butte.


Fox Valley also picked up a 1A Girls Conference title, winning the North Conference 3 bracket in Hazlet.

The tournament got off to a bumpy start, as Fox Valley lost to Eston in three sets. However, they rebounded with a three-set win over Hazlet.

Fox Valley then cruised to two-set wins against both Plenty and Beechy to earn the Conference title.

Though the location is undetermined at this point, Fox Valley is set for the 1A Girls North Regional.

They are up against Luseland, Hillmond, Glaslyn, Beechy, and Borden.


Meanwhile, Gull Lake continues to dominate the 2018 season.

Coming off a SWAC Senior Girls league title, Gull Lake claimed a 3A Girls West Conference 2 title at home.

Gull Lake swept Moose Jaw Riverview and Regina Harvest City in straight sets, before topping Shaunavon in three sets to advance to the final.

They then topped Moose Jaw Cornerstone in straight sets in the final.

Gull Lake now heads to Cornerstone this weekend for Regionals.

The pair of teams are up against Dalmeny, Kipling, Lampman, and LCBI.
