Broncos Spagrud Camp 2

Gull Lake's Justin Spagrud has found a more permanent place in the lineup with the Swift Current Broncos.

After only playing in 39 of the 72 games last season, Spagrud has played all 15 games so far this season.

"You just work hard to get in the lineup and it's nice to see it pay off this year," he said.

The sophomore knows he has to keep working hard to get better if he hopes to move up the lineup.

"I've just got to stay consistent and do the things that I can that make me and the team successful and do whatever the coaches ask me."

Spagrud scored 5 points in 39 games last season as he spent his share of time in the press box. It motivated him to make strides and be ready for a more permanent role.

"I think I just go better in all the aspects of the game," he said. "The things I wasn't so good at last year I've been working on throughout all last year and throughout the summer got stronger and in better shape. I think it's paid off so far this season."

He doesn't have any points so far this season, but he has earned more trust from the coaching stuff with regular minutes and and increased role at different times.

Spagrud and the Broncos have lost all five games on their US Division road swing. They will look to get back on the right track at home against Edmonton on Saturday.
