Pink Speedo Racers

Speedy Creek Racing held their second race day on Friday to a great fan turn out. The racing action was fast and close as always with:

#13 Rene Panasiuk taking the Truck Feature
#11 Tyson Crowe winning the Hobby Feature
#5 Stephan Klym taking the Street Stock Feature, and
#66 Bob Heffer winning the Modified Feature.

Fans in attendance were also treated to a special race at intermission. 35 men all wearing pink speedos ran a relay race as part of a fund raising effort for Breast Cancer. The race took place on the front straight and instead of the runner passing a baton to their teammate, they passed 2 pink water balloons. Needless to say a good time was had by both participants and fans, with over $3,000.00 being raised for Breast Cancer Research.$1,500.00 of the total was raised by Andy Johnson, who was one of the runners. At the end of the evening, Terry Davidson of Davidson Racing- the race day sponsor, held a silent auction for the body panels off of his Street Stock to further raise funds for the cause. The Speedy Creek Racing Association also made a donation from the 50/50 towards the fundraiser.

The next races will be held on Saturday June 7, with a double header Kid’s Day/Father’s Day promotion, featuring: Trucks, Hobbies, Streets and Modifieds. The drivers will be bringing their cars out front for the kids to meet the drivers and receive candy and photos. For more information on race dates and events, log onto www.scra.ca.
