After a long winter, racing fans and drivers are ready for the upcoming 2014 Speedy Creek Racing season.

Drivers are anxious to get behind the wheel for the May 10th season opener, and race announcer Kevin Funk says tonight kicks off Work Night at the track at 6:30 p.m.

"Tonight's supposed to be a work night," Kevin says. "If you'd like to volunteer for the club with doing clean-ups or helping with the track prep or anything like that, come around and talk to Joanne or Coty and they will put you to work and we'll be more than happy to any volunteers out because it is a good time."

Racers are busy preparing for the track, he says, "They're getting the cars ready. There's guys getting ready, getting the final prep on the engines coming in, getting their chassis set up, getting their parts together. You need a raft of parts to do your whole season and they're getting that together, getting sponsors together."

The featured events for their opening races will be Trucks, Hobbies, Streets and Modifieds.
