Perhaps the most adversity the Spokane Chiefs had all Memorial Cup was the presentation of the trophy itself.

Just shortly after defeating the host Kitchener Rangers 4-1 on a 53-save performance from Ggoaltender Dustin Tokarski, the 90-year-old Memorial Cup Trophy broke into pieces after being presented.

Chiefs' Captain Chris Bruton hoisted it in the air and tried to pass it to a teammate when the cup broke into two pieces and crashed to the ice.

Spokane won their last nine games of the season en-route to a WHL Championship and the Memorial Cup.
