A fourth-place finish out of 16 teams for the Swift Current Comp Sr. Ardens Basketball team in Moose Jaw over the weekend.

The Ardens opened play with a 52-28 win over Meadow Lake, backed by a team-high 10 points from Jenna Sabine. Swift Current's opening win propelled them into the championship side of the bracket, and a quarter-final match up against North Battleford Comp.

There, Danika Messer dropped 12 points to lead the Ardens to a 50-37 win over North Battleford, and to a semi-final.

However, the opposing Prince Albert Carlton side proved too strong for the Sr. Ardens, as Swift was bumped to the bronze-medal game with a 55-32 loss. Danika Messer once again led the way with seven points.

It was an even tougher opponent in a battle for Bronze for the Ardens. Up against Estevan, the Ardens fell in a lop-sided 89-42 result. Point guard Ali Vance put up 13 points in the loss.

A break in play this weekend for Semester 1 exams means the Ardens aren't back in action again until they head to North Battleford on February 9-10.
