The Swift Current Comp Sr Ardens basketball team placed fifth out of eight teams in Prince Albert over the weekend.

The Sr Ardens went 2-1 with wins over Meadow Lake and Saskatoon's Tommy Douglas Collegiate and a loss to North Battleford.

Swift suffered that lone loss in the opener, falling 53-44 to the NB Comp Vikings. Kennedy Choo Foo dropped 11 points to lead the Ardens, along with nine from Danika Messer and an even eight from Vanessa Clothier.

Game 2 was a comfortable 60-37 win over Meadow Lake's Carpenter School. Mackenzie Veason put up a dozen to lead the way - Messer added nine once again, and Choo Foo contributed eight points.

The consolation final brought a closer contest for Swift Current as they squeaked past Tommy Douglas 47-43. Once again Messer and Choo Foo stuffed the stat sheet with eight points apiece, and Madison Mortensen put up seven.

Meanwhile, the Swift Current Comp Sr Colts basketball squad was in North Battleford for a tournament cut short by the elements.

The Sr Colts defeated Meadow Lake 50-38, but lost to Moose Jaw Central 70-50, and Lloydminster 64-56.

The 1-2 record dropped the Sr Colts to the second division but, due to looming snow storms across the province, the Colts and several other teams had to head home early.
